The District Manager manages the day-to-day operations of a single site or multiple sites. This position ensures success by establishing and maintaining performance and productivity metrics and cost management processes. The District Manager reviews safety, service, and other operational problems with the sales, service, and maintenance functions in order to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manages the day-to-day operations of the District in compliance with WM's Standard Operating Procedures.
Provides daily support to Maintenance Managers in ensuring quality and budget performance.
Monitors Maintenance budget and operating metrics while diagnosing and improving processes, procedures, and performance of the Maintenance function.
Executes the Market's strategic capital budget, ensuring effective use of the budget through asset allocation; ensures appropriate spare ratios and asset disposal.
Develops, implements, and maintains processes, procedures, and programs to improve safety, productivity, and profitability of the site.
Assists in the prevention of accidents and injuries by conducting regularly scheduled safety meetings, alerts, and tailgates.
Understands and communicates to line-of-business employees the Top Three Cause of accidents and injuries, working to reduce and prevent incidents.
Utilizes tools and resources effectively, including the Operations and Safety Rules Book, Safety Contact Recognition Program, Safe Driving Practices and New Hire Orientation.
Recruits, selects, hires and ensures training of employees.
Collaborates with Market Area, Group, and Corporate management to implement and manage programs.
Uses appropriate software applications to perform daily work, including Kronos, PeopleSoft, AIMS, and SMART.
Minimum Job Requirements
A minimum of eight (8) years experience in a position involving operations, customer service, community relations, health and safety, financial, and human resources functions.
A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a supervisor or manager
Work experience implementing safety (OSHA) programs and equipment specifications.
Work experience preparing and managing budgets.
Work experience resolving human resource and labor relations issues.
Preferred Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or four (4) years experience in a related field.
A minimum of five (5) years experience in the waste, environmental services, energy, or transportation industry.
Master's Degree in Management or Business Administration.
Proficiency using computer applications to record, analyze, and report information.
