Staff Veterinarian
Associate Veterinarian
Perrin-410 Animal Hospital, P.A. was established March 1, 1986, as a full service, extended hours hospital open from 7 am to 11 pm seven days a week. There is never an extra emergency fee for night, weekend or holiday service. Our location in northeast San Antonio at the intersection of Perrin-Beitel and Loop 410 is easily accessible for the entire city. We are unique as this is still the only hospital of this type in San Antonio. This is the best of both worlds-Emergency Medicine, with the aftercare, and routine practice. From the beginning staff of two Veterinarians and two cross-trained receptionists/technicians we have grown to 7 veterinarians and a support staff of 29. Currently, we are one of the top practices in San Antonio based on number of Veterinarians and staff, active client base and gross revenue. This has been achieved by offering (1) Convenient hours of operation (2) Affordable service and (3) Quality medicine delivered with a compassionate, caring attitude. We enjoy the reputation of being a diagnostic orientated medical-surgical practice that offers limited ancillary services. We are an equal opportunity employer. Recent graduates, as well as more experienced Veterinarians, are welcome to a have personal interviews or send a C.V
New or recent graduates can expect an environment that will allow perfecting their diagnostic and surgical skills, as there are a large variety of cases seen daily. Seasoned clinicians are on duty to offer guidance and support when appropriate. More experienced doctors will find a welcome change in their practice life as our support staff is trained to do all technical duties, not prohibited by the Texas Practice Act, that is usually delegated to them because of lack of adequately trained personnel. Our staff collects blood and does all diagnostic testing, takes all radiographs, sets all I.V. catheters, administers all anesthesia, does all surgical preps, performs all routine dental prophylaxis procedures and gives post-op and progress reports to clients under the doctors supervision. In other words, a Veterinarian can devote their full time and attention to be one that diagnoses, prescribes, offers prognoses, performs surgical procedures while interacting with multiple clients. Applicants with interest/experience in Ultrasound and/or Exotic pets will be given preferential consideration as we specific have needs in these areas
We do extensive orthopedic surgery to correct fractures, both congenital and those resulting from trauma, utilizing pins, plates, wire, grafts (autogenous and commercial) and external fixatures, including myelograms and spinal surgery, soft tissue surgery, intense medical cases, complicated dermatological conditions, autoimmune diseases, poisonings, etc. are seen routinely. In addition, we have the only blood banking facility in San Antonio and maintain a complement of universal donors with an Ultra-centrifuge so we can offer Blood Components i.e. Transfusion Therapy on a daily basis. Both our Dog and Cat reception areas have a TV monitor that shows PetCare client educational DVDs. Other equipment includes, Idexx CR unit for digital x-rays (the first one in San Antonio) that are viewed on computers only as there is no film, Vetronics computerized ECG diagnostic software, flexible endoscopes, Vetscopes (video-otoscopes) with monitors in each of the 5 exam rooms, one compressed air dental unit and 1 w/o air, dental x-ray unit, Elmann Surgitron for soft tissue surgery, complete Idexx Lab diagnostic center utilizing the LaserCyte technology, Isofluorane and Sevofluorane anesthesia machines (5), pulse-ox monitors, peritoneal dialysis catheters, Consil bone grafting material, various chemotherapeutic wound dressing, etc. We are fully computerized utilizing AVImark, the # 1 rated veterinary software program for veterinarians, with over 6000 users. We utilize the new VetEd Tablet computers which allow us to have all patient records in computer form without hand written records. These portable, hand-held computers offer the Doctor instant access to Hill?s Colored Anatomical Atlas, ACT Client Education printouts, Five Minute Veterinary Consult, all our consent forms and Internet access in the exam room. We are paperless as ALL consent forms, lab test results, x-rays and medical records are computerized. In addition, our staff is trained to utilize VetPlan Knowledge Management Software as a client communication-education tool to aid our doctors.
We do not require post-employment Restrictive Covenants or lengthy contracts. We simply have an Employment Agreement that reduces to writing what each party is expected to do.
